GeoBlitz.io is a free browser-based geography quiz game. This page explains what data is collected when you use this site, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it.

GeoBlitz does not provide user accounts and does not ask players for names or email addresses during gameplay. If you choose to use the contact form, the details you submit are processed as described below. Google measurement services and other technical providers may process device, usage, consent and approximate-location data when their tags are permitted to run.
GeoBlitz uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage and improve the game. This may include page views, traffic source, approximate location, device/browser information, selected interface language, and non-personal gameplay events such as starting a game, making a meaningful first attempt, completing a round, using Play Again, sharing a result, or reaching a result screen where an ad or sponsor message may be shown.
These analytics events are used in aggregate. GeoBlitz does not use them to collect names, email addresses, account profiles, or the exact answers typed by individual players.
Google measurement tags start with analytics and advertising storage denied. A compatible consent manager may update those signals only after the visitor makes a choice. When an advertising provider is active, its consent-management platform is responsible for requesting and communicating the choices required for that provider. Other processing may rely on legitimate interests such as site security, fraud prevention, aggregate measurement and improving the service where the law permits.
GeoBlitz uses programmatic advertising partners, including Google AdSense and Journey by Mediavine, and may also display direct sponsorship messages or clearly identified sponsor links where permitted. These advertising partners and their vendors use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to deliver, target, and measure advertisements, limit how often they are shown, prevent fraud and invalid clicks, and serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other sites on the Internet.

GeoBlitz uses localStorage for game progress, scores, and the selected interface language, and sessionStorage to prevent a meaningful-visit event being counted repeatedly in one browser session. Analytics and advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies for measurement, fraud prevention, and advertising when permitted by the visitor's consent choices.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of advertisements on this site but will not affect the game itself.
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font, Google's servers receive your IP address and browser information. Google's privacy policy applies to this data: policies.google.com/privacy.
GeoBlitz saves high scores, daily challenge progress, and language preference locally in your browser using the Web Storage API. The detailed game state stays on your device; only aggregate gameplay events such as start, completion, score summary, and selected mode may be sent to analytics. Exact answers typed by players are not sent. You can clear local data at any time through your browser's site-data settings for geoblitz.io.
If you use the contact form, GeoBlitz receives the name, email address, reason, and message you submit so that we can respond. Netlify processes and stores form submissions on GeoBlitz's behalf. Contact messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain appropriate records, or meet legal obligations.
GeoBlitz does not maintain user accounts or a database of gameplay profiles. Contact-form information is retained as described above. Data processed by third-party services is handled according to their own retention policies.
Data collected by third-party providers such as Google—and, when enabled, an advertising provider and its vendors—may be processed outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area. Those providers are responsible for maintaining appropriate safeguards for international transfers in accordance with applicable data protection law.
GeoBlitz is an educational geography game suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Requests relating to Google services can be managed through Google's privacy tools at myaccount.google.com, while Mediavine provides information and privacy-request options through its Legal and Privacy Center.
