GeoBlitz.io is a free browser-based geography quiz game. This page explains what data is collected when you use this site, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it.

GeoBlitz does not provide user accounts and does not ask players for names or email addresses during gameplay. If you choose to use the contact form, the details you submit are processed as described below. Google services, Mediavine, and other technical providers may process device, usage, consent, and approximate-location data when their tags are permitted to run.
GeoBlitz uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage and improve the game. This may include page views, traffic source, approximate location, device/browser information, selected interface language, and non-personal gameplay events such as starting a game, making a meaningful first attempt, completing a round, using Play Again, sharing a result, or reaching a result screen where an ad or sponsor message may be shown.
These analytics events are used in aggregate. GeoBlitz does not use them to collect names, email addresses, account profiles, or the exact answers typed by individual players.
Where applicable law requires consent, GeoBlitz uses Google Consent Mode for Google measurement services and the consent-management tools integrated with Journey by Mediavine for advertising. These tools request and communicate a visitor's choices before relevant storage or personalised advertising is enabled. In other circumstances, processing may rely on legitimate interests such as site security, fraud prevention, aggregate measurement, and improving the service.
GeoBlitz uses Journey by Mediavine to manage programmatic advertising and may also display direct sponsorship messages or clearly identified sponsor links where permitted. Mediavine and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure advertisements, limit how often they are shown, prevent invalid activity, and support advertising appropriate to a visitor's consent choices.

Information about Mediavine's advertising and privacy practices, partners, and privacy controls is available through the Mediavine Legal and Privacy Center. Google may use measurement information according to its partner-site policies at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Visitors can also use industry opt-out tools such as aboutads.info.
GeoBlitz uses localStorage for game progress, scores, and the selected interface language, and sessionStorage to prevent a meaningful-visit event being counted repeatedly in one browser session. Analytics and advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies for measurement, fraud prevention, and advertising when permitted by the visitor's consent choices.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of advertisements on this site but will not affect the game itself.
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font, Google's servers receive your IP address and browser information. Google's privacy policy applies to this data: policies.google.com/privacy.
GeoBlitz saves high scores, daily challenge progress, and language preference locally in your browser using the Web Storage API. The detailed game state stays on your device; only aggregate gameplay events such as start, completion, score summary, and selected mode may be sent to analytics. Exact answers typed by players are not sent. You can clear local data at any time through your browser's site-data settings for geoblitz.io.
If you use the contact form, GeoBlitz receives the name, email address, reason, and message you submit so that we can respond. Netlify processes and stores form submissions on GeoBlitz's behalf. Contact messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain appropriate records, or meet legal obligations.
GeoBlitz does not maintain user accounts or a database of gameplay profiles. Contact-form information is retained as described above. Data processed by third-party services is handled according to their own retention policies.
Data collected by third-party providers such as Google, Mediavine, and Mediavine's advertising partners may be processed outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area. Those providers are responsible for maintaining appropriate safeguards for international transfers in accordance with applicable data protection law.
GeoBlitz is an educational geography game suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Requests relating to Google services can be managed through Google's privacy tools at myaccount.google.com, while Mediavine provides information and privacy-request options through its Legal and Privacy Center.
